The Clifford H. Smart Middle School girls’ track and field team dominated the competition to take home the Lakes Valley Conference crown on Wednesday at Milford High School.

The Trojan ladies took first place in 11 of the 16 events at the conference championship meet to tally 181 points and run away from the field finishing 56 points ahead of second place Muir Middle School.

Clifford H. Smart’s league champions were Peyton Anson (70 meter and 100 meter dash), Quinn Blewett (800 meter and 1600 meter run), Aubrey Atwood (200 meter Hurdles), and all four of its relay teams; 4x100 meter (Anson, Chloe Long, Alexis Sanchez, Maribeth Smith), 4x200 meter (Aubrey Atwood, Allyson McClure, Brogan Miller, Allie Turner), 4x400 meter (Addisyn Atwood, Kara Alt, Turner, Chelsea Reibel), and 4x800 meter (Addisyn Atoowd, Alt, Blewett, Ava Montante).

A pair of ladies from Walnut Creek Middle School also won their events. Melody Dukes took first place in the 55 meter Hurdles and Lauren Hill claimed the LVC title in the high jump.

On the boys side, student-athletes from our middle schools won five events. Clifford H. Smart’s Reid Fox finished at the top of the podium in the 70 meter dash and Braxton Kulka took first in the 100 meter dash. James R. Geisler Middle School’s Jonathon Negru took home the 400 meter dash title. The Wolves also claimed league titles in the 4x200 meter relay (Josh Weinberg, George Hoppesch, Quincy Choice, Milton) and the 4x800 meter relay (Negru, Hoppesch, Ty Ormond, Fernando Zaleta).
