Doug Goodwin receives Golden Apple Award

Former Pleasant Lake Elementary paraeducator, Doug Goodwin, received a Golden Apple Award posthumously at the November 6, 2025 Board of Education meeting. Cheryl Goodwin, his wife and retired social worker for the district, accepted the award in his honor.
Goodwin was nominated by Pleasant Lake Elementary teachers, River Eubanks and Sarah Przybylo, because he loved to teach students new skills and watch them independently mark their goals.
“Doug always showed up to help with a smile on his face, even on the hardest days,” said Przybylo. “He highlighted the good in the day, which always made students and staff laugh and smile.”
“Doug’s passion for education and his willingness to go above and beyond made him a valuable asset to the district,” said Eubanks. “Doug was a positive role model for others by leading with integrity, professionalism and a strong commitment to excellence. He set a high standard through his dedication, work ethic and positive attitude, inspiring those around him to strive for their best. Doug approached challenges with determination and a proactive mindset, always seeking ways to improve and grow."
